3.21.3-srv - New UI and integrations for DC
This release brings the new admin interface we released last month for cloud to Data Center. But there’s more to it: behind the scenes, we’ve rewritten large parts of our DC code and added amazing new integration capabilities.
New UI and new theme management features
Head over to Editing & creating themes to learn about the new interface. But we’re sure you’ll get along easily. The two most important new features:
📃 Integrated default theme gallery
You can easily install our default themes like Bright Blue without mangling with ZIP files any more. Head over to the theme editor, open the import dialog and choose “Install default theme”.
🙈 Hide themes in the presentation dialog
For each theme, you can check whether it should be available in the presentation dialog or not. This way you can work on your themes in secret and give them to your users when you’re ready.
Enhanced compatibility with reporting plugins
We’re thrilled that more and more customers use Slide Presenter not only to present native Confluence content but also to create wallscreens and digital signage - or just exporting reports in a nice and interactive way.
We’ve added support for the content of multiple third party apps - and, especially powerful, for nearly all external gadgets like Jira dashboard widgets etc. Find more information and video demos of our integration with eazyBI, Rich Filters and general external gadgets here:
Rewritten DC code
We’ve rewritten large parts of our Data Center code and cleaned things up so the backend is ready for our shiny new theme editor in the making, while keeping the app compatible with Confluence versions 6 - 9. There are some changes that might be of interest for you:
New, cleaner URL pattern for presentations
Presentations now have URLs like https://yourdc/plugins/servlet/slide-presenter/TEST/page/163916
instead of the longer app key packages you saw before.
If you link to presentations directly, make sure to update your links!
Scheduled job to groom theme media files
Until now, Slide Presenter checked on all media files with each request to a media management endpoint. From now on, we’ve moved the job to remove unused media files etc. into a scheduled job running once per day. Look out for “Presenter” in your scheduled jobs list.
Database table migrations
We’ve reworked our data model in the background and will create a new database table and retire some old ones.
Our next steps
MID-TERM We’ll double down on creating the shiny theme editor you’re all deserving.
In the meantime, if you have any wishes on what type of content to support, please tell us via our support portal! We’re looking forward to hear from you!
Happy presenting!
