The theme editor has 4 main areas:

With Slides Design, you design the 'surroundings' of your presentation - backgrounds, slide numbers, logos and so on. The actual Confluence content only has a placeholder here.

In Content Formatting, you determine how the actual content looks on the slides - fonts, colors and spacing of text paragraphs, lists, tables and so on.

In Media & Fonts, you manage the images you use for designing your slides and your custom fonts.

In Theme Settings, you manage basic settings like the name of the theme, the slide dimensions and animations. There are also settings for some intricate details about the layout process.
